The short answer
Computer reading glasses focus farther out than ordinary readers, at a screen about 20 to 26 inches away. Our EV6 computer readers are progressive reading glasses optimized for a workspace. Your reading power sits at the bottom of the lens for your phone and eases off as you look up, so the monitor and the person across the desk are in focus too, from 18 inches to 6 feet. You order your reading power. No prescription is needed. EV6 starts at $220.
Your desk
Where everything sits in the lens
| What you’re looking at | About how far | Where it sits in EV6 |
|---|---|---|
| Your phone | 18 to 22 inches | The bottom of the lens, at full reading power |
| Your keyboard and laptop | About 2 feet | Just above the bottom |
| Your monitor | About 3 feet | Straight ahead, across a wide corridor |
| The person across the desk | About 6 feet | The top of the lens |
Readers at the desk
Readers set for the screen
A pair of ordinary readers focuses at one distance, about 18 to 22 inches, where you hold a phone or a book. A monitor sits farther out than that, so it goes soft. That’s when the glasses slide down your nose, or come off and go back on with every text.
EV6 keeps your reading power at the bottom of the lens and eases it off as you look up. It stops at six feet, so its corridor stays wide nearly edge to edge. You can look across the whole screen without moving your head to find focus.

EV6 at the desk
On the left, a standard progressive that reaches the horizon. On the right, EV6, which stops at six feet.
The same desk through two lenses. EV6 stops at six feet, and the width it saves shows up as corridor.

How it works
From your order to your desk
Pick a frame and a range
Each range comes in 35 frames from L&F, Ombraz, RAEN and STATE Optical.
Order your reading power
The power you’d use to read a book, from +1.00 to +2.75. Add your PD, which you can measure at home in about a minute.
We make them in about two weeks
We digitally surface, coat and edge the lenses in California. Shipping is free and takes about three days.
How they’re made
Made to your measurements in California
Digitally surfaced
The curves for your power are cut into a single lens blank by computer-guided equipment, accurate to a hundredth of a diopter.
A full stack of coatings
An anti-reflective layer stops the bounce-back glare. Oleophobic and hydrophobic layers keep fingerprints and water from sticking. A hard coat protects against scratches.
Edged for your frame
A multi-axis edger cuts each lens so the power sits exactly in front of your pupils in the frame you chose. We inspect the lens at every stage. If we find a blemish, we start over with a fresh blank.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
What are computer reading glasses?
Reading glasses focused for screen distance as well as up close. EV6 holds your reading power at the bottom of the lens for the phone and eases it off for the monitor and the desk, from 18 inches to 6 feet.
What strength computer reading glasses should I get?
For EV6, order the power you’d use to read a book or your phone. The lens eases it down toward the top for your screen. The strength guide has the numbers for single-distance readers.
Can I get computer reading glasses with my prescription?
Yes. Choose Custom Rx as the power on EV6 and upload your eyeglass prescription. Custom Rx adds $100.
How much do computer reading glasses cost?
EV6 starts at $220 on L&F frames, $285 on Ombraz, $310 on RAEN and $475 on STATE Optical. The price is for the frame and lenses together.
Do they filter blue light?
Yes. Blue light filtering is built into the lens material of every EV lens at no extra cost, so it can’t wear off.
What if they aren’t right for me?
You have 30 days from delivery to return them for a full refund, with a prepaid label. Within 60 days we’ll remake the lenses at no charge if the power or measurements need adjusting, or exchange them for a different frame style, color or lens option. Start any of these through the contact form.
