The short answer
Yes, there are reading glasses you can keep on around the house. A standard pair focuses at about 18 to 22 inches, so the room goes soft when you look up. EV20 holds clear focus from 20 inches to 20 feet: your phone and book at the bottom of the lens, the room through the middle and top. It’s made for indoors, at home or in the office. For driving, choose EVinfinity™ or your distance glasses.

Made for the house and the office
EV20 puts your reading power at the bottom of the lens and eases it off as you look up, out to about 20 feet. That covers the kitchen, the living room, a restaurant table or a conference room.
It reaches farther than EV6™, so its corridor is a little narrower. It still runs across nearly the whole lens.

If most of your day is at a desk, EV6 gives you a wider corridor. For driving and outdoors, EVinfinity reaches all the way out.

We make them in about two weeks
We digitally surface, coat and edge the lenses in California. Shipping is free and takes about three days.

Digitally surfaced
The curves for your power are cut into a single lens blank by computer-guided equipment, accurate to a hundredth of a diopter.
A full stack of coatings
An anti-reflective layer stops the bounce-back glare. Oleophobic and hydrophobic layers keep fingerprints and water from sticking. A hard coat protects against scratches.
Edged for your frame
A multi-axis edger cuts each lens so the power sits exactly in front of your pupils in the frame you chose. We inspect the lens at every stage. If we find a blemish, we start over with a fresh blank.

Are there reading glasses you can wear all the time?
Indoors, yes. EV20 holds clear focus from 20 inches to 20 feet, so you can read and see across the room in the same pair.
Can I walk around in EV20?
Yes, around the house or the office. They’re made for indoor distances up to 20 feet. For driving, choose EVinfinity or your distance glasses.
Will EV20 work for the computer?
Yes. A screen at two to three feet is inside its range. If most of your day is at a desk, EV6 has a wider corridor.
Which reading power should I order?
Order the power you’d use to read a book or your phone up close. That full power sits at the bottom of the lens. The lens eases it down for your screen and the room. If you already wear drugstore readers, their number is your starting point. Which power to order walks through it.
Do I need a prescription?
No. You order a reading power from +1.00 to +2.75 in quarter steps, the same way you’d choose a pair of readers. If you already wear prescription glasses, EV6 and EV20 can be made to your prescription with the Custom Rx option.
What if they aren’t right for me?
You have 30 days from delivery to return them for a full refund, with a prepaid label. Within 60 days we’ll remake the lenses at no charge if the power or measurements need adjusting, or exchange them for a different frame style, color or lens option. Start any of these through the contact form.
