The short answer
A progressive lens has a clear corridor up the middle. Its width depends on how far the lens reaches. A standard progressive reader runs from reading power to the horizon, so its corridor is narrow and the sides blur. EV6™ is set for a desk, so it stops at six feet and stays sharp nearly edge to edge, the widest corridor we make. EV20™ reaches 20 feet with a corridor that still covers almost the whole lens.
Why the sweet spot is narrow
Range and width
Every lens that focuses at more than one distance has a corridor, a clear path where the power changes smoothly. Outside it, toward the edges, the lens blurs. Fit more distances into the same small lens and the corridor has to narrow.
People in standard progressives often move their heads side to side to line up their eyes with the corridor, or lift their chin to find the power for what they’re looking at.
By range
How wide each corridor is
| Lens | Reaches | Corridor |
|---|---|---|
| EV6 | 18 inches to 6 feet | Nearly edge to edge, the widest we make |
| EV20 | 20 inches to 20 feet | A little narrower, still almost the whole lens |
| EVinfinity™ | Near vision to the horizon | Narrower, closer to a standard progressive |
| Standard progressive | Reading distance to the horizon | Narrow |
See the difference
EV6 and a standard progressive
The same desk through both lenses. Everything past six feet comes back to you as width.
The same desk through two lenses. EV6 stops at six feet, and the width it saves shows up as corridor.

How it works
From your order to your desk
Pick a frame and a range
Each range comes in 35 frames from L&F, Ombraz, RAEN and STATE Optical.
Order your reading power
The power you’d use to read a book, from +1.00 to +2.75. Add your PD, which you can measure at home in about a minute.
We make them in about two weeks
We digitally surface, coat and edge the lenses in California. Shipping is free and takes about three days.
How they’re made
Made to your measurements in California
Digitally surfaced
The curves for your power are cut into a single lens blank by computer-guided equipment, accurate to a hundredth of a diopter.
A full stack of coatings
An anti-reflective layer stops the bounce-back glare. Oleophobic and hydrophobic layers keep fingerprints and water from sticking. A hard coat protects against scratches.
Edged for your frame
A multi-axis edger cuts each lens so the power sits exactly in front of your pupils in the frame you chose. We inspect the lens at every stage. If we find a blemish, we start over with a fresh blank.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Why do my progressive lenses have a narrow sweet spot?
A standard progressive packs reading distance through to the horizon into one lens. The more range a lens carries, the narrower its corridor. A lens made for a shorter range can be wider.
Which progressive lens has the widest corridor?
Of our lenses, EV6. It stops at six feet, so its corridor runs nearly edge to edge.
Can I wear EV6 for driving?
EV6 is made for indoor distances up to six feet. For driving, choose EVinfinity, or progressive prescription eyeglasses if you need distance correction.
I wear prescription progressives. Can I get EV6 with my prescription?
Yes. Choose Custom Rx as the power on EV6 or EV20 and upload your prescription. Our team reviews every prescription before we make anything.
What if they aren’t right for me?
You have 30 days from delivery to return them for a full refund, with a prepaid label. Within 60 days we’ll remake the lenses at no charge if the power or measurements need adjusting, or exchange them for a different frame style, color or lens option. Start any of these through the contact form.
