Gabe Kapler joins the Lens & Frame Co. team

Running a startup business like ours, we try to plan and think strategically as often as possible. Other times, as Maverick tells Rooster in Top Gun 2, we "don't think and just do." And just doing is how we came to meet Gabe Kapler, known to most of the world as the manager of the San Francisco Giants, known to us now as one of our partners with Lens & Frame Co. 

In 2021, as avid baseball fans, albeit supporting different teams, we watched with awe and respect as Gabe steered his team to an historic 107 win season. This was all the more remarkable after taking over a 3rd place under .500 team after the 2019 season and suffering with the rest of us through the shortened, fan-less 2020 season.

Throughout the season and during the playoffs, Gabe was there in the dugout, leading his team with his trademark impeccable style, often sporting a pair of eyeglasses. As it was a rarity to see eyeglasses on the field, we were intrigued.  And as our customers will attest, creating a personal connection is an integral part of who we are at Lens & Frame Co.  So when the season came to an (unjust) end, we went out on a limb and sent Gabe a note, congratulating him for a fantastic season and asking if he'd like to try out some of our L&F eyewear. 

Since we were a tiny startup brand, we didn't hold out much hope for a response. Thus we were thrilled when we got a note back from Gabe, asking for a time to meet. 

Gabe has worn eyewear from several well-known brands. When we first started talking, we were pleased as punch he'd choose to trust his vision to L&F. 

Yet, the conversation quickly evolved into something more substantial. Getting to know each other, we realized that we all like to do things a little differently - and, hopefully, a little better - than they have been done before. We are willing to take chances, and we’re not afraid of adversity when we need to stand up for our values. 

After months of off-season conversations, we recognized that our shared passion for building meaningful connections with people could evolve into something bigger, and Gabe could help us realize our vision of building a better eyewear brand.  Gabe has a knack for identifying potential and helping to build successful teams.  Thus, we are beyond proud to welcome Gabe to Lens & Frame Co. as a partner and member of our ownership team.
