The short answer
Armless glasses have no arms over your ears. Ombraz frames are held on by an adjustable cord that runs behind your head, so there’s no pressure on your ears or temples. Lens & Frame Co. makes the prescription versions. We make Ombraz prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses, single vision or progressive, with lenses surfaced to your prescription in our California lab. Ombraz frames come in Narrow to XL fits.
How they stay on
A cord in place of arms
The cord is the frame’s only connection behind your head. Tighten it for a run or a boat. Loosen it for the desk. Nothing sits on your ears. They fit under a hat or a helmet.
Darren’s advice is to wear them loose. Armless glasses don’t need to sit tight against your face. Worn loosely, they’re more comfortable and they don’t fog.

How we make them
Lenses made to your prescription in California
Digitally surfaced
Computer-guided equipment cuts the curves for your prescription into a single lens blank, accurate to a hundredth of a diopter.
A full stack of coatings
An anti-reflective layer stops bounce-back glare. Oleophobic and hydrophobic layers keep fingerprints and water from sticking. A hard coat goes on last to resist scratches.
Edged for your frame
A multi-axis edger cuts each lens so your correction sits exactly in front of your pupils in the frame you chose. We inspect every lens at every stage. If we find a blemish, we start over with a fresh blank.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
How do glasses without arms stay on?
An adjustable cord runs from each side of the frame around the back of your head. You tighten or loosen it with a slider.
Can I get armless glasses with my prescription?
Yes. We make Ombraz prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses, single vision or progressive.
Will strong prescriptions work in Ombraz?
Yes. Stronger powers make thicker lenses that sit a little closer to your lashes. High Index 1.67 keeps them thinner.
Which size should I choose?
Ombraz frames come in Narrow, Regular, Large and XL fits depending on the style. Most product pages list the measurements.
Can you put prescription lenses in Ombraz frames I already own?
Yes. Prescription eyeglass lenses start at $340 and sun lenses at $390. We email a prepaid label to send us the frame.
How long does it take?
About two weeks to make your lenses, counted from when we have your prescription and PD. Shipping is free and takes about three days. Faster shipping can’t shorten production.
